Is Your Affiliate Software Killing Your Joint Venture Relationships?

One of the questions I get asked all the time from potential Joint Venture partners and affiliates is how do I know I will be rewarded if the people I send to you now buy from you later on?
I thought I would share this tidbit that will help you understand this a little better. Understanding this can help you whether you use this for Joint Ventures or simply to attract new affiliates.
Many of your prospective partners will want to know if he/she will be compensated when and if the prospects they send your way purchase from you after receiving your follow-up messages.
In the offline world a JV partner maintains control of this by handling the mailing themselves. There is little risk involved because if the prospects don’t buy the first time they are contacted the JV Partner controls the subsequent mailings.
But online, their fate and potential split is in your hands. They are sending people to your site knowing that some JV Partners are not always 100% honest and may not share the follow up sales with them.
But you should!
Therefore, assuring them that you will is another surefire way to increase the response you get from them.
So to assure them that they will get paid when sales are made from follow up messages sent to prospects you must do one of the following (and tell them in your proposal that you are doing so).
Use affiliate tracking software that offers bulletproof tracking mechanisms. Most affiliate software will only assign a cookie to the prospects machine. This presents a potential problem since some prospective customers might have cookie blocking software or might clear their cookies regularly.
The best affiliate software (e.g. the affiliate software in GoldbarOne ) will store a record for each affiliate in the database insuring that the referring partner is properly credited with the referral as well as the sale.
Using this kind of software will also insure that after the initial endorsement is made, if a prospect does not purchase immediately but returns to buy in the future, your JV Partner is awarded the sale.
If you are trying to encourage people to sign on as a JV partner you could say something like this in your Joint Venture proposal:
"To insure that all of your sales are recorded and tracked properly we will provide you with your own unique affiliate URL using our custom affiliate software.
Our software will record you as the referral source for each customer insuring that you get paid for each person you send to us even if they do not buy right away."
Now, while some partners may be VERY online marketing savvy and very tech savvy they may not understand that there is affiliate software that not only tracks by cookies but also tracks by database entries. This is a foolproof method for recording commissions.
Cookies are a thing of the past and they can be blocked by antivirus software and firewalls. Using affiliate software that insures your partners get credited for their referrals is a sure way to impress and win over potential JV partners by showing that you care for them and are looking out for their best interests!
