Is Your Affiliate Software Killing Your Joint Venture Relationships?
June 24, 2009 10:30 AM by Marc Goldman

One of the questions I get asked all the time from potential Joint Venture partners and affiliates is how do I know I will be rewarded if the people I send to you now buy from you later on?

I thought I would share this tidbit that will help you understand this a little better. Understanding this can help you whether you use this for Joint Ventures or simply to attract new affiliates.

Many of your prospective partners will want to know if he/she will be compensated when and if the prospects they send your way purchase from you after receiving your follow-up messages.

In the offline world a JV partner maintains control of this by handling the mailing themselves. There is little risk involved because if the prospects don’t buy the first time they are contacted the JV Partner controls the subsequent mailings.

But online, their fate and potential split is in your hands. They are sending people to your site knowing that some JV Partners are not always 100% honest and may not share the follow up sales with them.

But you should!

Therefore, assuring them that you will is another surefire way to increase the response you get from them.

So to assure them that they will get paid when sales are made from follow up messages sent to prospects you must do one of the following (and tell them in your proposal that you are doing so).

Use affiliate tracking software that offers bulletproof tracking mechanisms. Most affiliate software will only assign a cookie to the prospects machine. This presents a potential problem since some prospective customers might have cookie blocking software or might clear their cookies regularly.

The best affiliate software (e.g. the affiliate software in GoldbarOne ) will store a record for each affiliate in the database insuring that the referring partner is properly credited with the referral as well as the sale.

Using this kind of software will also insure that after the initial endorsement is made, if a prospect does not purchase immediately but returns to buy in the future, your JV Partner is awarded the sale.

If you are trying to encourage people to sign on as a JV partner you could say something like this in your Joint Venture proposal:

"To insure that all of your sales are recorded and tracked properly we will provide you with your own unique affiliate URL using our custom affiliate software.

Our software will record you as the referral source for each customer insuring that you get paid for each person you send to us even if they do not buy right away."

Now, while some partners may be VERY online marketing savvy and very tech savvy they may not understand that there is affiliate software that not only tracks by cookies but also tracks by database entries. This is a foolproof method for recording commissions.

Cookies are a thing of the past and they can be blocked by antivirus software and firewalls. Using affiliate software that insures your partners get credited for their referrals is a sure way to impress and win over potential JV partners by showing that you care for them and are looking out for their best interests!

Web Hosting Lessons From an Old Friend
May 13, 2009 02:03 AM by Marc Goldman

I got an email today from an old friend that does REALLY WELL both online and offline.

I have met with my friend many times over the years at different conferences we have both spoken at and attended.

He is always well dressed, well polished and has no problem spending his dough to have a good time (he invited my wife Terry and I to see the Cirque du Soleil show Love in Las Vegas the last time we saw him but unfortunately we had to pass).

I really like my friend - if you have been on my list for any length of time then you know when I tell you bout a friend it's really my friend and not a "friend" like the thousands of launch emails you are used to by now.

When he wrote to me tonight I thought he was going to tell me about how well he was doing (as he usually does).

Quite the contrary in fact.

In his email, he lamented about the state of his business right now and how he was scaling back and cutting all expenses due to the economy and some unfortunate business setbacks that occurred this year.

Things were so rough that he was cutting staff and changing business practices drastically. One of the things he is doingis consolidating all his services into more affordable offerings from the best providers.

Now, don't feel so bad for my friend. This guy is one of the sharpest people I know and I have no doubt that he will bounce right back and be on top of the game soon.

But, this does bring up an interesting point. If you are in a situation right now where you are either:

a) unsure of whether your business will succeed

b) unsure of whether to start a business

c) uncertain about the economic climate

Then, by all means, you need to consider scaling back expenses and/or migrating your current expenses to
more affordable and more reliable service providers in order to save money.

Even if your business is doing really well, it's always an EXTREMELY SMART business practice to consolidate your services under one provider especially if that provider delivers a similar or better quality service at a more affordable price.

I really got to thinking about this and decided to do something special for my list members ONLY. Something that would help you do exactly what my friend is doing.

As you should know, Goldbar is aggressively growing our affordable website hosting service HostOne.

We completely revamped this service late last year and relaunched early this year and have been steadily building up a huge following and making some major moves to compete with some well established providers.

But, we aren't new to this by any means. We have been hosting websites since 1998 and quietly building up our staff, our skills and our infrastructure.

As a matter of fact, we own a LARGE chunk of a tier 1 data center located in New Jersey that also houses some major corporate players (which should let you know that the service and infrastructure is top quality).

This year we took a large foray into the Dedicated server marketplace offering what is commonly known as a VPS server.

What is a VPS Server? Well its a dedicated server that is as powerful (even more so) than the dedicated servers being peddled by most large scale hosting companies.

The only difference between a VPS server and a dedicated server is that we can run a small number of VPS servers on one extremely large high powered server.

While the concept is similar to shared hosting the way we plan our VPS servers we can TOTALLY dedicate the resources of the VPS to the owner.

So you get all the benefits of having your own dedicated server: speed, dedicated resources, reliability, privacy, security, etc. without all the negatives: purchasing hardware, the cost of maintaining and replacing faulty equipment and much more.

Now, most dedicated servers cost well over $150.00 and that is for a barebones system that is usually not worth the money you pay. Most reliable and efficient systems cost between $250.00 - $350.00 USD per month.

Because we are working really hard to compete with many of the big players in the Website Hosting game, I have specifically gone against the advice of some of my peers and put together a package that is comparable to the dedicated servers that sell for $250 - $300 per month and we have set an extremely low price of $99.95 per month.

This gives ANYONE more than enough room to host every website they may have (including HIGH Traffic, High bandwidth, database intensive sites) with tons of room to grow and scale.

One of our new clients came to us wanting to know if our VPS could run a software application he had purchased that was not able to perform up to mark at a well known competitor who shall remain nameless.

We set up the app for him and let him put it through it's paces before he purchased and in his words:

"It's 10 times as fast and responsive as those guys over at #@#~!#~!#!#"

So, you can run pretty much anything you like on your own VPS (except services that violate our TOS and AUP).

Got a high powered membership site, bring it over.

Got a few of them? Bring em all.

Got some serious video and audio files to serve? We can handle it.

Got an application that you aren't getting what you expected to from your previous hosting company? As long as it runs on Linux, we can handle it.

Want to get into the affiliate game and have all the room you will ever need to host all your affiliate sites,
landing pages, redirects, scripts and apps?

You know the drill: Our VPS' can handle it.

Now, I told you about a special offer. Here is what I am going to do for my list members and blog readers only:

From now until May 17th at 11:59 PM EST, you can get your very own VPS Server for just $49.95 for the first month: http://hostone.goldbar.net/order.php?l=3&i=5
That's right, we will literally shoot ourselves in the foot and take 1/2 upfront just to let you in so you can see just how powerful our VPS servers are and how responsive and knowledgeable our team of skilled engineers and support techs are.

All you need to do to take advantage of this offer is click here:

and enter one of the coupon codes at the top of the page at checkout time.

This coupon saves you $50.00 off your first months VPS hosting.

Now, if you are really interested but you are a little nervous about shifting sites or full dedicated servers, have no fear. Our talented team will handle all the tech work of the transfer for you.

We will do everything including transferring sites, scripts, databases, changing DNS, keeping you from downtime. Our team lives for this stuff and you will be covered fully.

Ok, so maybe I got you interested with this offer...you may be wondering though - is there a catch?

Just one. I have no interest in overcrowding servers and underdelivering service as many other hosting companies who only care about the bottom line do so I really can only keep this offer open to the first 100 people who respond.

And it really is first come, first served so if we run out of VPS' on one server, we will have to order a new one and get you setup so please know that the turnaround time for the slow movers can be a couple of days.

Of course if you move fast, the setup time is super quick, we have our system so automated that you can be up and running with your own VPS within a few hours at most.

So, what are you waiting for? This is an amazing deal. $49.95 for your first month of PREMIUM dedicated hosting on one of our rocksolid VPS servers and then just $99.95 per month.

Imagine how stable your business could be if you had us taking care of you on your own dedicated server and all your sites, databases, scripts and more were running with my team taking care of you with our trademark White Glove service.

If I were you, I would sign up now:

Happy Hosting,

Marc Goldman

PS Just keep in mind that this special offer is only being made available to the first 100 people and orders will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

P.S.S Take a lesson from my smart business friend and start consolidating your services with higher quality
and more affordable providers.

Sign up for your own VPS now:

P.S.S.S Did I mention that with each VPS order, you also get your own autoresponder account at GoldbarOne that will let you take advantage of our over 95% delivery ratio and get your mail into the hands of your subscribers and customers?

Order now: http://hostone.goldbar.net/order.php?l=3&i=5

Introducing our new Website Hosting Mascot...
February 2, 2009 08:55 AM by Marc Goldman

First off I want to thank all the people that participated in the Goldbar Name the Mascot contest that we ran last week.

I wasn't prepared for all the entries.

Our email, Twitter and Blog was really hopping all week long up until the end of the contest.

We had so many great ideas and suggestions and many of them came with interesting killer copy, backstories, etc. (I really think some of you missed your calling as a screenwriter :D ).

But, all week long, one thing was clear - there was an OVERWHELMING frontrunner.

And his name...(Drumroll Please) is: DIGGER!

That's right - our brand new Goldbar Mascot is named Digger.

Now - to be quite honest - we had thought of this name already in house but we wanted to run this contest to see what other names could come up but the fact is when we saw it picked again it just seemed like serendipity.

However, when we saw it picked over 20 times we knew we had a winner.

Of course we didn't know how to divvy up the 1 oz Gold bar so that brings up a minor issue.

But, fear not - we will deliver Gold as promised to each and every person that chose the name Digger (it will not be a 1 oz increment but I will work out a way that every one of you will be happy).

We will be in touch with the winners in a private email and I will also name some of the runners up
on our blog in the next day or so.

This has been an amazing display from our list members (that's you) and we appreciate it.

This got buzz on Twitter, on other peoples sites even world famous branding guru - Dr. Ben Mack picked it up and ran on his blog with it and told me he would be discussing it during his seminar this past weekend (thanks again Ben!)

This is a great example of how to leverage a relationship with your list.

If you aren't building a list - do so NOW!

If you aren't building a social network - do it NOW! Join me on Twitter right now.

And take this as an example of what can happen when you really work hard to do something new and innovative and ask for help from the nice people with whom you have built a relationship.

HostOne opens for real this week:

Go and let Digger help you mine your way to serious internet profits on the best hosting service.

Digger will give you a Free 30 day trial of killer unlimited hosting and our GoldbarOne autoresponder (by the way our delivery is up over 90% right now and with some new innovations we are looking to get our users close to 100% email delivery in 2009).

Our team of killer server engineers will handle EVERYTHING for you. You don't need to know a thing about transferring your hosting or setting up an account.

We will do all the tech work for you for FREE!

Plus we are there 24/7 for help with anything you need.

We want to be your 24 hour a day tech partner.

And, if you have an idea for a domain but aren't ready to market it just yet, we can even park your domains for you and help you monetize them.

Thanks again for your loyalty and support!

Marc Goldman

PS Look out for Diggers addition to the About us page soon (he is writing it as we speak).

How to Do a One Click Upsell
February 1, 2009 11:05 AM by Marc Goldman

Many of you know that GoldbarOne is top notch in our upselling features. We have been using upsells ourself in our own business for the past 10 years and Upsells have always helped to increase our average sale by as much as 40%.

The GoldbarOne shopping cart has contained 3 different ways to do upsells since its inception in 2004. The first way is to include an upsell on your order form (actually as much as 3). The second way is to include upsells in your confirmation emails (killer strategy by the way) and the third is to do both!

Well this past year we have had numerous requests from people to build 1 Click post purchase upsells into GoldbarOne and our killer DEV team has just completed this feature.

What 1 Click Upsells do is allow you to present your customers with a page that appears AFTER they place their order that allows them to take you up on another purchase (usually with a special discount or incentive or a ONE TIME OFFER that encourages them to buy right now).

Many of our competitors are doing this in a very cludgy way so we really wanted to do something neat with our upsell feature.

Take a look at these 3 videos I have done for you to show you how easy it is to do 1 Click Upselling using the GoldbarOne shopping cart:
